DivX 7 posiada elementy niezbędne do odtwarzania filmów w rozdzielczości HD, a także kodek H.264 i ACC z obsługą kontenerów mkv.

Twórcy programu, oprócz wielu nowych i dodatkowych funkcji, zapewnili kompatybilność wstecz.

Polega ona na odtwarzaniu materiałów utworzonych z poprzednimi wersjami DivX.

Przy pomocy tego programu możemy nagrać płyty DVD, któe odtworzymy na zwykłym odtwarzaczu.

Niestety przeciwnicy programu mówią, że nie odtwarza formatów z telefonów komórkowych i ma dość spory problem z napisami.
